KWSH Volunteers Appreciation Dinner 2017
Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital’s (KWSH) Volunteers Appreciation Dinner was held on Saturday, 9 December 2017. At the Ban Heng Pavilion Restaurant at Harbourfront Centre, the event welcomed over 200 volunteers, among them our Board members who serve on our Board of Directors on a voluntary basis. It was a delightful treat and an evening of fun-filled performances for the guests as we extend our heartfelt appreciation to our valued volunteers for their tireless contribution to KWSH and our residents for the past year.
The dedication of our volunteers has been central to KWSH’s growth and has undoubtedly brought much cheers to our residents. Even more admirable is the fact that some of the volunteers, despite being already in their 50s and beyond, are still indefatigable in their volunteerism, answering our calls for volunteers to serve at KWSH and to organise meaningful activities for our residents week in week out.
At the dinner, KWSH Chairman Patrick Lee also presented tokens of appreciation to long-serving volunteers recognizing each and every one of them for their milestones of services to the Hospital. In his address to the volunteers, Mr Lee expressed his gratefulness toward them and thanked them for their contribution. As KWSH expands its capacity and services, Chairman Lee also spoke about his wish to see even more volunteers come on board to continue supporting KWSH. He said, “I sincerely appeal to all of you to rally your family and friends to come together to join us as a KWSH volunteer. It is the Hospital’s wish to continue to work hand in hand with all of you to benefit even more needy elderly as we embark on our next century.”
A total of 38 volunteers received the long service award this year. Mr Chow Peng Yip, who was complimented for his 15 years as a KWSH volunteer, said, “I have been a volunteer with Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital for many years and it is an honour to be given this long service award. While serving as a volunteer gives me indescribable fulfillment as it allows me to help others, I have also met many like-minded volunteers and we have gone on to become good friends!”
Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital’s endeavour to provide affordable healthcare to the needy would not have been possible without the generous support and passionate volunteerism from all walks of life. Our heartfelt thanks to all our selfless volunteers for their exemplary work once again, and let’s continue to work together for the betterment of our residents and community at large!
